congressional terms need to be limited
It got me thinking today, how many career congress-critters we seem to have and how many of them have focused a decade or more, not on the people they supposedly serve but on the process of being elected for the rest of their lives.
Now having said all this it seems obvious that the solution is to have limits of two terms of about 4 years each. Plenty of time to get some good work done and leave a positive example for others to follow. When they know they're going down anyway they might actually focus on a record to be proud of rather than corrupt back-room deals to be re-elected for all eternity.
So what's stopping a constitutional amendment to fix up this mess? Probably too many people with vested interests in the current status quo, determined to stay in their roles for however many decades as possible. Pretty much makes me sick, but what can you do about it, any ideas anybody?
Exactly right. People need to think about why we don't let presidents stay in for 30 years, because we don't like dictators buying off the public to keep them on easy street using our tax payers money forever... as for what to do about it, I'm not too sure... it'd be very tricky and would require a movement of hundreds of thousands of people, basically a lot of screaming until some lawmakers will pick it up... but even then it's going to need a lot more pressure cause a lot of people wont even vote for policy like this unless they feel that they have no choice.
WE NEED TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESS & SENTORS. POWER CLOUD YOUR MIND & YOU LOSE THE CONCEPT OF REALITY
THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I OR WE GO THRU OUT IN A REAL WORLD. THEY LOST TRACK WITH YOU, ME & REALITY
