racist immigration reform?

It seems we have a major problem on our hands. Our country is being flooded by Mexican immigrants, but somehow, trying to stop them is racist. Arizona is not trying to stop "Mexicans" from crossing the border. If that was the case, we would close the border completely! AZ is trying to stop "illegal immigrants". I don't understand why their skin color matters so much. If we were having this same problem with Canada, would it be racist then? Where does Al Sharpton get off?!?! Of course we are looking for Mexicans, dumbass! That's where the illegals are coming from! No-one cares what their skin color is! Get a clue! It's people like him that will turn this into a race war, not the whites.

It's something our opponents do just to try and win political points. The law doesn't actually care what somebody looks like, it's just a geographic fact that the border has Mexicans on it and not people from Fiji or Greece or wherever else so it makes sense that most illegal immigrants are Mexicans and there's nothing racist about that. What makes their position even stupider is that it ignores the fact that their are tax-paying Americans in our society and our armed forces that immigrated legally or were born here to legally-immigrating parents etc.

Immigration reform is like a tea party protest, when someone doesn't like what you're saying they'll just cry racist because they don't have a better arguement.

I always find it interesting when those comments come from individuals that have never been decimated because of their ancestry background, let's hope that we do not have the same issues as in WWII with the American Japanese or the Mexicans in LA, just to name a few. If you have experience any discrimination, then you can understand where these Americans are coming from.

It's a common trick, although the partier movement is peaceful... people in the wrong very easily resort to lies in my opinion as if they don't have a valid arguement.

I think people are seeing how ludicrous some of the allegations are... when the protest is legal and the laws are for everyone...

It is not easy to accept the illegal issue when you have a connection to who it is being directed.  I have spoken to many Americans of Mexican descent, and they have no problem in enforcing the immigration law pertaining to those who are here illegally and refuse to become Americans or even obtain permission to reside here and work. They believe that the new law should have been discussed and explained more clearly than just rushing the signing through. Another 30 to 60 days would not have made a difference. It has always been the practice to educate the public an appropriate political organizations prior to signing any law. Leaving it up for the public to interpret their own meaning has cause many issues and please do not use the term “well it is in plain English” that is not a valid excuse, using the proper implementation process is the right way.

how is it racism or profiling, if illegal mexicans are the problem you do not look for asians.

The new Arizona law needs to be past nation wide.

Wow ... immigration overload.. in a country made up of immigrants (and NO, our place in history doesn't go back millennia in this country, it's still very young compared w most European, Asian, African, and, yes, Native American cultures).

I'm proud to be an American, in whatever context anyone cares to apply to that term; but somehow I get this queezy feeling inside me every time I read an ignorant comment about "who should be here" & "who shouldn't".

This country already went thru a hell & split itself in half, partly to 'defend' "states' right's" and guess who won out in that conflict?  The president during those tumultuous years?  A Republican.  What the h*&& are so many Republicans doing defending Arizona's actions?  I'm serious, think about it for a minute...

...without the 'race card' involved, without illegals involved (and for those of u who are being intelectually dishonest with yourselves - STOP).

Why would Republicans now choose to back a state's legislation when it clearly involves a raping of the constitution?  Are we that frustrated with Washington's inability (or failure) to control our borders that we're ready to say "Sure! If that'll do the job - go for it! I'm with u."

I dont feel like giving a history lesson, this post is long enough as it is anyway; but this country has had similiar legislative challenges throughout it's history.  Get a textbook and put your emotions in check.
